About Me
I am currently full-time studio manager and assistant to the legendary Jay Maisel. Much to his dismay, I shoot primarily on medium format film. The concrete, tangible existence of an image on cellulose inspires more confidence in the longevity of my work than digital media does.
I am a graduate of the commercial photography program at Portfolio Center in Atlanta, Georgia, where I utilized an existing background in graphic design to learn how graphic, commercially viable photography is made. Since I started working for Jay, I’ve since had to reevaluate my work as I absorb his almost-Taoist approach to the medium. As a result, I now carry a camera with me at all times (as Jay would say, it’s much easier to take pictures that way) and shoot what catches my eye and my interest. At the same time, I am always working on a few staged conceptual projects.
